Before You Enroll

Confirm the requirements first. Keep the answers with your records.

The Foundation Of Change offers online educational reading, written reflections, and assessments. If you want to use these activities toward a court, probation, school, or other requirement, use this checklist before paying or starting.

1. Ask about this specific program

Permission to use a nonprofit does not necessarily mean permission to complete online educational coursework. Share our letter of introduction and program explanation with the person supervising your requirement. Ask whether this format and provider are acceptable, and keep their response, preferably in writing.

If your instructions require work at a physical site or with an organization in a particular state, confirm that our online program meets those instructions. We do not give blanket approval on behalf of a county, court, or probation department.

2. Confirm hours and your deadline

Check the exact number of hours still required and the date by which your authority must receive proof. Our program limits credited time to eight hours per day. A daily limit is not a promise that you can earn that many hours every day or finish by a particular date. Allow time for completing activities, resolving record discrepancies, and any required review.

Changing the required-hours setting changes your goal; it does not add completed hours. If the number in your account is wrong, contact support before enrolling again or making another payment.

3. Check the fee and assistance process

Review the price shown for your required hours, the participant terms, and our refund policy. A program fee covers access and administration; completed hours must come from program activity. Paying does not establish acceptance by a receiving authority.

If you need fee assistance, read the current Second Chance Fund information and contact us before paying. Do not send benefit cards, identification, medical records, or financial documents by email to establish eligibility. Follow the current referral instructions on the assistance page.

4. Ask what documentation is required

Find out whether your authority wants a certificate, daily hour log, signed letter, or its own form. Send us a blank form or the instructions so we can explain what information our records can support. We can only confirm activities and hours supported by those records.

The Foundation does not provide notarization. If notarization is required, ask the receiving authority what must be notarized and arrange that separately. A notarized document does not itself establish that the activities meet your requirement.

5. Understand what verification means

Our certificate lookup checks a document against Foundation records. It does not constitute independent monitoring of every session, proof of continuous attention, or court approval. Read our recordkeeping and verification limits for details.

You can also review our organization information and use EIN 33-5003265 in the IRS Tax Exempt Organization Search. Nonprofit status and program acceptance are separate questions.

A question you can send to your supervising authority

I am considering The Foundation Of Change, an online educational program involving reading, written reflections, and assessments. May I use these specific activities toward my requirement? Please confirm the hours I still need, my deadline, any location or supervision restrictions, and the documentation you require. The program description is available at thefoundationofchange.org/how-it-works.

If an answer is unclear

Ask your supervising authority to clarify before starting. If you need information about our platform or records, contact The Foundation of Change. If your authority requires a different type of activity, ask it for an acceptable placement or program.
