How Community Service Works in Washington Courts

Under Washington RCW 9.94A.680, courts may order community service as part of a sentence or condition of supervision.

Washington has 39 counties, and community service is ordered by its superior courts, district courts, and municipal courts. The court that hears your case sets how many hours you need, the deadline and how you prove completion.
