How Community Service Works in Virginia Courts

Under Virginia Code § 19.2-303.3, courts may order community service as a condition of a suspended sentence or probation.

Virginia has 95 counties, and community service is ordered by its circuit courts, general district courts, and juvenile courts. The court that hears your case sets how many hours you need, the deadline and how you prove completion.
